All in all, this is a nice family show...along the same vein as shows like "Little House on the Prairie". Later, Craw shows up on the Kolvak farm...claiming to be a homeless guy in need of work. The boy says nothing...and the Reverend agrees to let Craw stay.

The movie The Family Holvak proved so popular on television that it was thought that it might make a good Walltons like television series. Unfortunately the Reverend Holvak played by Glenn Ford was killed in the first film, The Greatest Gift. The film received reviews from sources including Tom Shales of The Washington Post, The Christian Science Monitor, and The New York Times.

The father is a preacher who supplements his income by farming. The oldest child is Ramey and he is a nice but gullible boy. Ramey, while on a summer adventure, chances upon a chain gang. When the prisoner Craw escapes Ramey befriends him and hides him at his family's isolated farm. Ramey, the son of the Rev. Holvak, while on a summer adventure, chances upon a chain gang befriending Craw, one of the prisoners who saves him from another prisoner. When Craw escapes Ramey befriends him and hides him at his family's isolated farm.

Only the Holvak son Ramey figures out that Carradine is an escaped convict. To make matters worse, Carradine plans another crime--and doesn't cotton to witnesses. Julie Harris costars as Holvak's wife Elizabeth, with Elizabeth Cheshire appearing as daughter Julie Mae. Long Way Home was originally telecast September 7 and 14, 1975. This film has a 100% rating based on 5 critic reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. The Holvak family lives on a farm in rural Tennessee during the Depression.

You know that nothing good will come of this...but at least for a while, Craw seems like a real stand-up guy and a welcome house guest. They won't be able to see your review if you only submit your rating. When I watched Kill Bill I assumed that the basis of Bill came from obviously 'Kung Fu' but now I am not so sure.

Delivery times may vary, especially during peak periods. But in the face of such a well-told story I could not remain unmoved. Well, you DO, but it takes such a well-made documentary, in its very simple way of telling a telling story, to actually FEEL it. Though made by "our team" Two Jews, one of them being a Rabbi...) it maintains a fair standing in the delicate issues of the Jewish-Arab conflict in Palestine. It tells a human story and when put as it outs the story in perspective it gives the simple unfolding of the historical events an epic depth. One cannot stop and wonder how the same story may look so trivial in a day-to-day life .
